Royce was born to Loyal and Mary Elizabeth (Libby) Alm March 27, 1916 and named Royce Xavier Alm. He was placed with the Child Rescue Society of the church of the Bretheran in Minot, ND.
He was placed into the home of John I. and Barbara Wampler on April 25, 1916. He was adopted by John and Barbara August 23, 1916 at Devils Lake, ND and renamed Royce Hobart Wampler.
PERSONAL NOTE: This was all kept secret from the Alm family. I do not believed that anyone in the Alm or Allen families ever knew about Royce. I believe Loyal and Libby kept this secret to themselves.
